We are seeking an organised, enthusiastic, and practical person to take on the role of DT Technician.
DT is a well-resourced and supported subject at Ralph Allen school, growing in popularity at both GCSE and A-level. We currently run A-level Product Design and GCSEs in Food Preparation and Nutrition, Product Design: Textiles, Product Design: Resistant Materials and Art & Design; Graphic Communication.
The role of the Technician is wide ranging from ensuring equipment and machinery is maintained and safe to use; materials are prepared, and stock maintained; through to assisting teachers and students in the classroom and workshop. An ability to pro-actively anticipate teachers needs would be advantageous, as would employing your expertise in developing new projects.
The department has a broad range of equipment, and the successful candidate will need to feel as confident using a 3D printer and laser cutter as they do a bandsaw and lathe. Full training will be provided on all equipment, as will DATA Health and Safety training, for the successful candidate.
An interest in DT is required and although a DT or technical background would be advantageous, it is not essential as full training will be given.
Ralph Allen is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children: the successful applicant must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employers and will need to undertake an enhanced criminal record check via the DBS.
Safeguarding Statement
The Palladian Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Your suitability to work with children and young people will form part of the selection process. The successful applicant will, in accordance with statutory guidance, be subject to a comprehensive and robust pre-employment checking process. Prior to appointment Palladian Academy Trust will apply for an enhanced DBS check plus a further check against the appropriate barred list, references from current and previous employers, health screening, and the right to work in the UK.
