We are a residential care provider based at the seafront, in Clacton-on-Sea. We are searching for an enthusiastic Senior Care Assistant to join our friendly team on a part-time role of 24 hours per week. It is essential that you are fluent in English.
Candidates with previous care or supervisory experience are preferred. Those with NVQ 2 or equivalent/ higher qualifications are particularly desirable, although this is not essential for the post if you are an experienced carer. The potential employee would regularly be in contact and liaise with external professionals (i.e, GPs, District Nurses, Physiotherapists and Dieticians), for the regulatory service of our resident's day-to-day health needs. The successful candidate will be someone who can act as a good role model for carers, providing motivation whilst also overseeing the quality of care provided, and meet the following requirements:
* Fluent English (both written and spoken)
* Previous care experience, preferably within residential care
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to record information using a computer
* Effective team player
* Good attention to detail
* Patient and tolerant

Some of the duties for the Senior Care Assistant include to:
* Administer medication.
* To understand, contribute to and be familiar with the service users Person Centred Care Plans.
* To assist service user in using their personal and mobility aids whilst ensuring all aids are well.
* To ensure that care assistants are adhering to correct moving and handling techniques.
* Organise and assist in social activities by interacting with service users and helping them to continue with their hobbies and activities within the
* To escort service users to and from the home when necessary or ensure a member of staff is appropriately assigned to take responsibility.
* To complete accurate and effective written and computerised records as instructed in line with Brooklyn policies and
* To act and understand the role of a key worker to nominated service users.
* Assist service users during mealtimes in accordance with their care plan and serve meals and drinks as required, or ensure a member of staff is appropriately assigned to take responsibility.
* To answer the nurse call system promptly and give assistance as required or ensure a member of staff is appropriately assigned to take responsibility.
* To report any incidents, occurrences or complaints to the manager and record.
* To attend and participate in staff and service users' meetings as required.
* To attend mandatory training and other training identified to enable you to fulfil your role is compulsory; this may involve travel to other venues.
* To attend supervision and appraisal meetings as required.
