An exciting opportunity
Join Hampshire County Council’s Services for Young Children team as a Business and Administration Manager and help shape early years education across the county.
If you're looking for a varied, rewarding role in a supportive team where your work directly benefits children and families, we’d love to hear from you.
This key position supports the delivery of over £160 million in government funding to early years providers, ensuring Hampshire meets its statutory duties for children aged 0–5.
The Role:
We’re seeking a motivated and detail-focused Business and Administration Manager to lead our central administration team.
You’ll oversee the distribution of early education funding to around 1,200 providers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness amid expanding entitlements. The team also supports colleagues working in provider improvement, inclusion, and business development contributing to Hampshire’s high provider Ofsted ratings.
This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex operations in a fast-paced environment.
What you’ll do:
Lead a team of Administration Support Officers who serve as the first point of contact for parents and providers.
You’ll manage monthly funding processes, verify eligibility, and coordinate headcount activities that determine payments.
You’ll also oversee IT systems (primarily CAPITA), work closely with data teams, and ensure robust service delivery through effective planning and quality assurance.
What we’re looking for:
A confident leader with strong IT, financial, and customer service skills. You’ll be discreet with sensitive information, thrive under pressure, and consistently deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines.
Why join us?
Our benefits package includes details of the holiday entitlement, pension scheme, flexi-time scheme, family friendly policies and interest free travel loans and discounts. We offer a flexible, motivating and inclusive workplace. We have created an environment that you can look forward to being a part of, where you are empowered to be your best and a workplace built on teamwork where people can grow and develop in their roles.
