Are you passionate about the environment? We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Environmental Scientist taking responsibility for the delivery of water resource and environmental investigations which support our regulatory needs.
This role will see you deliver, track and report on the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) which ensures the protection and enhancement of the environment to improve our communities. This includes developing action plans and building relationships with key stakeholders and our regulators including the Environment Agency.
You’ll conduct assessments to support regulatory plans and permits including strategic environmental assets, WINEP related water schemes, habitat regulation assessments, water framework directive assessments, and invasive non-native species assessments. This will also include preparing and submitting environmental permit applications.
The technical reports you’ll provide will be used for our regulatory submissions. You’ll stay informed on new environmental issues to provide regular updates, acting as a representative in internal as well as national technical groups.
About you

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of conducting environmental assessments whilst implementing improvement projects.
You’ll have knowledge in hydro-ecology and catchment hydrology that will underpin your organisational and project management capabilities. You’ll also have a proven track record in budget management and stakeholder engagement.
You’ll have experience collaborating with regulators like the Environment Agency and Natural England, using your knowledge of water and environmental legislation to provide updates to internal stakeholders.
Due to the nature of travel, the successful candidate will have a full UK driving licence.
