Job Description
As our Plant Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and controlling all operating activities within the business unit and ensuring the safe and efficient running of the site.
Reporting to the Regional General Manager, you will deliver the strategy and plans for the business unit. You will have full operational cost responsibility, promote and engage with key stakeholders, lead, motivate, and inspire the team to success, deliver and manage KPIs and other measures, coach and train the team.
Key Responsibilities
* Actively lead strategic planning, objective setting, and budgeting, taking ownership of reporting and delivering against.
* Lead and contribute to meetings and presentations as required at all levels of the organisation.
* Be accountable for Health and Safety at the site, and for all employees and visitors.
* Ensure site progress on all Health, Safety, Environmental and Regulatory standards, and compliance including Kaizen.
* Work with other members of the UK SMT on budgeting and planning, input on the strategy and direction of the business unit.
* Ensure all business targets are met and commercial decisions are met in a prompt and timely manner.
* Deliver the budget: control of all expenses to meet budget guidelines.
* Work with the Regional General Manager, to build a future capex development plan for the business unit.
* Implement new business initiatives to drive change and performance at the site, in line with the direction of the UK SMT.
* Set and deliver upon production targets for the Company and managing key performance indicators.
* Implement and follow effective quality systems, ensuring site quality targets are met.
* Promote an inclusive culture for all personnel and associates.
* Be responsible for continuous improvement on site.
* Ensure effective leadership and performance of all functions of the site and manage available resources to achieve targets.
* Be responsible for driving high levels of organisational housekeeping to secure efficiency, safety, and quality within the site.
Person Specification
* Experience in packaging is ideal, preferably timber or corrugated; other products considered.
* Experience of Turnaround situation.
* A proven track record of plant management.
* Effective communication and presentation skills to work closely with management and technical staff; IT fluency.
* Good working knowledge of Continuous Improvement Methods.
* Good attention to detail and be a strategic thinker.
