Overview
Gurdwara Guru Nanak Parkash Coventry has a vacancy for two assistant Gyanis to engage with the Sikh community in Coventry and surrounding areas, assisting the Head Giani in religious services and general works around the Gurdwara.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Head Giani in Sikh religious services, perform katha, assist in weekly diwan, Nitnem readings and Ardass, reading and recitation of Sukhmani Sahib, Akand Paath.
* Support duties as required to maintain orderly and respectful gurdwara operations during services and events.
Qualifications
* Amrit Dhari and at all times live according to Sikh principles and code of conduct.
* Fluent in speaking, reading and writing Panjabi.
* Ability to perform Kirtan; to play and teach traditional Sikh musical instruments is preferred.
* Proficient in either Harmonium or Tabla as a minimum.
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in a busy gurdwara environment with knowledge and skills in all aspects of gurdwara activity and a high standard of respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
* Competence in Kirtan or Tabla may be demonstrated by submitting video (preferred) or audio recordings.
Remuneration and Conditions
* Salary: £12.21 per hour, paid monthly in arrears by bank transfer.
* Accommodation and meals provided.
* The employer claims an exception under the Equality Act 2010.
