Healthcare Assistant - GP Practice - Part Time (30 hours per week)
To support the Practice In all Clinical areas, deliveringhealthcare services to our patient population. Supporting the Nursing andMulti-disciplinary teams with the delivery of Quality Healthcare. Working aspart of the practice multi-disciplinary team, you will be delivering care withinyour scope of practice to the patient population of this practice
The Healthcare Assistant will deliver and assist clinicalstaff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion andpatient education whilst also ensuring all documentation is updated and correctas practice policy
Main duties of the job
The followingare the core responsibilities of the Healthcare assistant. There may be, on occasion, a requirement tocarry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload andstaffing levels:
Supportthe practice nurse with health promotion programmes
Carryout baseline observations such as pulse rate and rhythm, blood pressure,temperature and saturations, recording findings accurately and reporting anyconcerns to a clinician
Facilitateroutine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
Undertakewound care
Supportthe practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
Carryout weight management checks as directed
Chaperonepatients and gynae clinics as required
Performvenepuncture as per request
Carryout ECGs as requested and report results to a clinician
Ensurespecimens are tested and recorded and ready for onward transportation
Providesupport during minor procedures as required
Ensureall clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session and expiry dates monitored of allstock
Ensurefridges are cleaned and monitored as per VMC policy
Ensureclinical waste is disposed of as per waste management policy and IPC guidelines

We are a training practice for Foundation doctors and GP trainees, with 30,000 patients, 33 consulting rooms, 2 operating suites and a private suite. Person Specification
Clinical knowledge and skills
* ECGs
* Venepuncture
* New patient medicals, including height, weight, BP, pulse
* Chaperone procedure
* Ability to record accurate clinical notes
* Wound care/removal of sutures and staples
Experience
* Experience of working with the general public
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting
* Experience of working in primary care
Qualifications
* Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent level
* Previous completion of the HCA Care Certificate
