Head organisational development

Wirral
ICE Creates
€50,000 a year
Posted: 2 May
Offer description

Do you lead Organisational Development with both rigour and warmth— able to hold challenge and care at the same time, and create the conditions for lasting behavioural change?

Are you ready to own and evolve an OD offer— shaping high‑impact leadership development, team dynamics, coaching and culture work, while building trusted senior relationships and growing accounts sustainably?

Do you have the presence to hold complexity and shift systems— designing brilliant, co‑created programmes, leading a specialist team, and representing the organisation confidently at board and system level?

The role

We’re looking for a Head of Organisational Development that will be a senior member of the ICE leadership team. You’ll own the OD offer – its quality, its evolution, its commercial growth – and you’ll lead a team of specialists who deliver it alongside you. This role is for someone who leads from conviction, not just competency. You’ll work across four core strands.

* Team Dynamics
* Coaching
* Cultural Growth

You will bring both rigour and warmth. You will hold challenge and care simultaneously – with clients, with your team, and with the work itself. This role will be commercially minded without being commercially driven, because it understands that ICE’s growth depends on the depth and quality of what we deliver, not just the volume.

You will be genuinely curious – about people, about systems, about what makes change happen and what gets in the way. You will have the kind of presence that makes clients want to keep working with you, and team members feel genuinely seen and developed.

Whether you have a career in OD within the health system or a consultancy background, you see leadership and organisational development not just as a discipline, but as a calling.

You will work as part of a fast paced, agile, creative organisation. You will be expected to drive and have access to a car, and to travel to other ICE offices from time to time.

Salary Range: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum

Offer hybrid working with trust, autonomy and a supportive leadership team. The first 12 weeks will be office based to help you onboard into ICE.

Roles will be provided along with a programme of continued professional development.

Key elements of the day‑to‑day role:

Client and Commercial Leadership

* Build and deepen meaningful client relationships – attending meetings, understanding contexts, shaping solutions that fit.
* Lead new business development and grow existing accounts.
* Set the standard for tenders, proposals, pitches and presentations – drawing on the full ICE offer to create the best possible solution.

Delivery and Quality

* Ensure everything the OD team delivers is grounded in the ICE ethos and methodology – high quality, high impact and genuinely co‑created.
* Lead programme design that starts with insight and ends with real behavioural change.
* Hold the standard across project planning, stakeholder communication and change management.

Team and Specialism Leadership

* Grow, inspire and develop your team – building a culture of learning, challenge and care.
* Stay ahead of emerging practice across leadership, team dynamics, coaching and culture.

Contribute to the ICE leadership conversation as a senior voice in the room.

Strategy and Offer Development

* Shape the OD offer in line with market need and ICE’s growth ambitions.
* Work collaboratively with sales, marketing and agency teams to ensure coherence across the ICE offer.

Represent ICE externally at board level and in professional networks.

Proposal & Bid Support

Contribute to written proposals, pricing inputs and tender responses (where relevant), coordinating internal inputs and ensuring submissions are outcome‑led, clear and compliant.

Account Growth & Relationship Management

* Support growth of existing clients through strong relationship management, renewal conversations, extensions and cross‑sell/upsell opportunities aligned to client outcomes.
* Work closely with marketing/engagement and delivery teams to develop case studies, proof points and pitch materials; ensure what we sell is deliverable and aligned to ICE values and impact.

Operations & Governance

* Act at all times within the Company’s rules, policies, procedures, and financial regulations.
* Observe and comply with employees’ obligations under Health and Safety policy and law.
* Support a progressive approach to Equal Opportunities ensuring that the Company’s commitment to equality of opportunity in service provision and employment practices are present in any work.
* Comply with all information governance policies and procedures at all times.
* Maintain the highest standards of personal and professional integrity and conduct.

Essential existing skills/experience

* Coaching qualification (co‑active or equivalent evoking‑based approach).
* Confident use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
* Proven OD and culture change experience within NHS, health and care, or wider public sector.
* Experience leading complex, multi‑stakeholder development programmes.
* Track record of sustainable, behaviour‑led change.
* Experience developing and delivering growth strategy. Proven ability to write high‑quality proposals and tenders.
* Established network at senior and board level.
* Deep facilitation skills – able to hold a room, name what’s in the field, and open up possibility. Ability to listen deeply, sense‑make in complexity and design with confidence.
* Experience leading and developing a specialist team.
* Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills.
* Clear communicator with confident influencing and negotiation.
* Organised, consistent and self‑motivated; able to manage multiple priorities.
* Resilient, proactive and comfortable with outreach and follow‑up.
* Collaborative approach and commitment to integrity and quality.
* Knowledge of Microsoft products.
* Comfortable using CRM systems, reporting tools and basic pipeline analytics.
* Process improvement and optimisation.
* Prioritisation and risk management.
* Confident leading client meetings.
* Expectation and scope management.
* Clear written and verbal communication.
* Negotiation and influencing skills.
* Ability to manage your own work and deliver across multiple projects.
* Understanding of margins and utilisation.
* Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
* A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn and grow.
* Comfortable with a hybrid working model.
* Driving licence & access to a car.
* Experience in using Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other digital platforms.
* Additional postgraduate qualification in leadership, psychology, or systems thinking.
* Experience of OD in private sector contexts. Familiarity with behavioural science frameworks and their practical application.
* Experience of business development in a consultancy environment.
* Competence in creative methodologies: clean language, LEGO Serious Play, visual metaphor, or similar evocative tools.
* Familiarity with bid management tools / tender portals.
