We are seeking a Head of Performance and Athletic Well‑being to start in September 2026 or January 2027. The role involves planning and implementing athletic development across the entire School PE curriculum, promoting performance with sports teams, scholars and individuals, and delivering education programmes to teachers, coaches and students to improve performance standards and culture. All staff share responsibility for safeguarding each student.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and plan infrastructure for athletic programmes
* Manage sports scholars and Developmentally Appropriate Practice initiatives
* Lead senior sport activities
* Conduct physical testing and report results
* Support and plan performance for individual athletes
* Coordinate return‑to‑sport processes with external pathways
* Manage extracurricular clubs
* Deliver curriculum lessons covering Fundamental Movement Skills, ball skills, coordination, HRF and athletics (6 periods)
* Run sports scholars selection days (ages 13+, 16+)
* Facilitate sports scholars sessions (Years 9–U6)
* Lead main sports Strength & Conditioning programmes (lacrosse, netball, football, tennis, cricket)
* Plan and deliver athletic development group training for DAP from Year 8 and “Learn to Train” for Year 7
* Offer recreational extracurricular clubs
* Provide rehabilitation and return‑to‑sport sessions
* Organise pre‑season camps (outside term time / weekends)
* Conduct practical testing with senior athletics
* Support school fixtures during weekends
* Drive student well‑being initiatives (PD and whole‑school development)
* Champion staff well‑being
* Provide CPD for PE staff and sport coaches
* Deliver education and information to third parties through blogs, talks, meetings and parent talks
* Support PE staff in curriculum team teaching
