The Fire Alarm Engineer/Life Safety Engineer role itself involves working independently to service, maintain, fault-find, and remedially repair fire alarm systems, smoke ventilation (AOV), and emergency lighting. You’ll be diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and ensuring high standards of safety and compliance across a variety of sites. This role includes planned preventative maintenance, reactive call-outs, and supporting major projects alongside installation teams. The work is varied, technical, and rewarding, with responsibilities that allow your expertise to shine in helping protect lives and property. This is a service-led position requiring excellent problem-solving skills, digital reporting, and Routinely participating in an on-call rota, and overtime when required.
You will have
To be successful as Fire Alarm Engineer/Life Safety Engineer, you will have a healthy mix of the following:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fire safety, with proven service, maintenance, fault-finding, and remedial work within commercial premises
Strong working knowledge of BS 5839-1, BS 5266-1, and BS 5306 standards
Experience with leading fire alarm manufacturers such as Kentec, Advanced, Morley, and C-TEC, alongside wireless systems (EMS, Hyfire, EDA, Apollo)
Hands-on experience with smoke ventilation (AOV), emergency lighting, and portable fire extinguishers (training can be provided if needed)
Full UK driving licence is essential
Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check (as work includes schools)
Knowledge of system installation support, including upgrades and commissioning (desirable)
