Assistant Lab Technician
People Solutions are currently recruiting for an Assistant Lab Technician to join our well-established client based in Dukinfield, SK16. This is a fantastic opportunity offering genuine long-term work and career progression.

• Monday to Thursday: 06:15 – 18:30
Rates of Pay
• £12.21 per hour

Day-to-Day Duties
As an Assistant Lab Technician, your duties will include (but are not limited to):
• Carrying out routine QC testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products in line with standard operating procedures
• Accurately recording, analysing, and interpreting test data to determine product conformity
• Performing basic adjustments to product formulations or processes as agreed with Laboratory Management
• Releasing finished products to the despatch team once all control plan requirements are met
• Maintaining testing equipment and ensuring calibration checks are completed as required
• Ensuring manufactured products are released in line with specified requirements
• Using a variety of laboratory equipment and standard operating procedures to carry out routine testing
• Compiling QC reports and sending results to customers promptly and professionally
• Escalating non-conformances or trends indicating potential quality issues to Laboratory Management
• Maintaining clear, accurate, and organised laboratory records and documentation
• Working closely with Production Supervisors to ensure consistent quality on the shop floor
• Providing timely feedback on sample results to avoid delays in manufacturing
• Supporting root-cause investigations into quality issues and contributing to corrective and preventative actions
Essential Skills
To be successful as an Assistant Lab Technician, you will need:
• Excellent reliability and punctuality
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• The ability to work well as part of a team
• A positive and proactive attitude
• Experience working in a laboratory or manufacturing environment (QC experience preferred)
• The ability to follow technical procedures and accurately record data
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work
• Good computer literacy, including Excel, Word, and email
• The ability to work collaboratively with production teams and other departments
Desirable Experience
• Experience in rubber, polymer, or chemical testing environments
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems
• Experience performing basic process adjustments in a manufacturing setting
