Overview
Would you like to join a charity supporting 18 - 24-year-olds gain skills to help them in the workplace? You will be working for a national charity that delivers supported internships for young people with autism or a learning disability. The programme provides classroom-based learning (employability and functional skills) combined with a work experience placement and supports the young person throughout the process.
Responsibilities
* Admin work (approximately one day per week).
* Classroom-based work as a teaching assistant (one day per week).
* Visit young people in the workplace three days per week to help them understand the role and liaise with employers for feedback and discussing any workplace adjustments.
* Support learners with practicalities of getting to and from work.
* Reach out to employers to secure internship opportunities for learners.
Location
Learners and employers are typically in the Kingston area but can be as far as central London.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience of working with young people, ideally SEND with autism or learning disability experience.
* This role would suit a teaching assistant looking for a change, or a youth worker, or an employment adviser or job coach.
