Salary Range: Band 7 (£39,906 - £46,049)
The University of Hull is seeking to recruit an experienced professional to an exciting new role in the Academic Partnerships team. The role holder will support the Associate Director in the strategic and operational development of the University's portfolio of academic partners.
The Academic Partnerships team is located with the University's Academic Services Directorate, in the University Registrar, Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer's portfolio. Working closely with broader faculty, partnership and academic quality teams, the role is key to ensuring that the requirements of the University's Quality and Standards Framework are met in respect of the approval, monitoring and review of academic partnerships.
The role holder will oversee the governance of academic partnerships and will co-ordinate partnership activity across the institution. They will provide advice and guidance to University faculties, professional services and external academic partners.
Background and Context
Under the University of Hull's professional service delivery model, many professional services are centralised with a hub and spoke model ensuring that University-level central teams are operating efficiently to enable capacity for growth, are sharing knowledge and best practice to enable a consistent approach and driving continuous improvement. A single professional service culture for the University underpins close partnering and seamless service provision across professional staff in central and Faculty teams.
The Academic Partnerships team has been established to enhance the University's approach to supporting academic partnerships, and to progress the University's ambition to grow Transnational Education (TNE) activity.
The Partnerships Manager is responsible for supporting the Associate Director in managing risk and compliance, including academic, legal, financial and business due diligence and risk, in relation to collaborative provision, in the UK and internationally. In the first year the post-holder will:
* provide a consistent approach to partnership development, effectively progressing a range of TNE opportunities through the University's development and approval processes
* undertake all necessary due diligence for the approval of new and the review of existing partnerships
* ensure that template partnership agreements for each type of collaborative activity are fit for purpose
* manage business risk to ensure that the University is not exposed to regulatory risk without sufficient mitigation
Academic Partnerships is in the Student and Academic Administration Directorate of the University's Academic Services portfolio, which provides services, advice and support that enable and empower students to achieve their academic, career and personal aspirations. Within Academic Services the provision of high-quality advice, guidance, and support is paramount. The portfolio places service excellence at the core of its activity, delivered by a team of highly motivated, professional staff.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the post
* To provide advice and guidance to relevant schools and faculties, orally, by email and by providing written reports, on how to establish new partnerships
* To assist with the development of academic partnerships through raising awareness of opportunities, conducting research and producing reports on potential partnership opportunities, including carrying out site visits at partner locations, in the UK and overseas, where required.
* To manage all aspects of due diligence in the establishment of new, and review of existing, academic partnerships, identifying appropriate levels of academic, legal and financial assessment.
* To assess due diligence reports to identify sources of academic risk associated with partnerships and the mitigation of this risk through appropriate measures, recommending actions to schools, faculties and professional services.
* To contribute to the initial assessment of business cases for new partnerships using financial analysis, in partnership with the relevant Finance Business Partner.
* To manage and assist with partnership activity in the UK and overseas, as well as maintain relationships with key contacts in relevant institutions.
* To maintain awareness and understanding of policy and developments related to partnership activity, conforming with sector expectations to ensure University policy and practice, and advice given, remains current.
* To work effectively with relevant faculties and professional services to maximise all outcomes from relevant partnership activity.
* To provide support for the management of quality assurance in partnerships when required.
* To service relevant committees, meetings and working groups, and to represent the University externally where required, for example in meetings with partners.
General
Some international and UK travel may be required to support partnership development and approval events.
