Trainee Health Physicist - Aldermaston, Berkshire, RG7 4PR
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: £29,490 - £44,230 per annum + Negotiable
Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking. Hybrid working is available on an informal, non-contractual basis. Typically 3 days onsite per week.
Responsibilities
* Join the Radiation Protection and Dosimetry Group within the Science function to provide legal and technical advice on health and safety related to working with radioactive materials and other ionising radiation.
* Contribute to a two-year health physicist training scheme that combines training modules with placements around the business to develop world-class professionals.
* Work towards professional accreditation as a Radiation Protection Adviser and chartered status with the Radiation Protection Council upon completion of the training scheme.
* Work calmly and constructively in a priority-changing environment, managing own workload with initiative and enthusiasm; meet tight deadlines.
* Support activities across diverse applications and customers, from nuclear facilities to decommissioning projects, forensic laboratories, and national security operations.
* Engage in both office-based and practical elements requiring effective communication with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Experience in health physics, dosimetry, environment, radioactive waste management, health and safety (ESH), or related fields, or a degree in science, technology or engineering.
* Willingness to learn and apply knowledge to become a radiation protection professional.
