QC Associate Scientist
Location: Basingstoke
Hours: Mon-Thu 8:00-16:00, Fri 8:00-14:30
Pay Rate: £13.55 per hour
Join the microbiology quality control team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where your work helps make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. As a QC Associate Scientist, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our products meet the highest safety and quality standards through meticulous testing and analysis.
What you'll do
1.
Perform microbiological quality control testing in line with established methods and SOPs.
2.
Prepare and test culture media.
3.
Accurately record and report results using SAP Quality Management systems.
4.
Investigate and document any out-of-specification results (OOS).
5.
Maintain laboratory equipment, cleanliness, and consumables.
6.
Follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
7.
Take part in team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
8.
Collaborate effectively with teams including QA, Manufacturing, and Planning.
What we're looking for
9.
Degree (or working towards one) in Microbiology or a related scientific discipline - equivalent experience also considered.
10.
Experience in a microbiology lab (academic or industrial).
11.
Strong attention to detail and adherence to procedures.
12.
Solid basic lab skills - pipetting, plate pouring, streaking, and swabbing.
13.
Good numeracy and data recording skills.
14.
Familiarity with SAP and MS Office is an advantage.
15.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
16.
Reliable, organised, and safety-conscious.
Work environment
17.
Casual dress code - jeans, T-shirts, and jumpers welcome.
18.
Hair must be tied back if longer than shoulder length; short nails required.
19.
PPE and safety shoes provided.
20.
Onsite laboratory setting.
