Our client is an established regional main contractor located in the East Midlands, they have a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across a range of sectors, including education, healthcare, residential, commercial, and public sector frameworks.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Nottingham office.
The Role – Senior Quantity Surveyor
They are seeking a commercially astute and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the financial and contractual management of construction projects from pre-construction through to final account.
This role requires strong leadership, strategic commercial awareness, and the ability to manage risk effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:-
* Lead all quantity surveying duties across allocated projects
* Prepare, manage, and report on project budgets and cost forecasts
* Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and appointment
* Value and authorise subcontractor payments
* Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts
* Monitor cost performance and manage variations, change control, and risk
* Ensure accurate financial reporting in line with company procedures
* Administer contracts (including JCT and NEC forms)
* Manage contractual correspondence and issue required notices
* Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
* Support dispute resolution and commercial negotiations where required
Education, Skills & Experience:-
* Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (BSc or equivalent)
* Proven track record of delivering schemes from £5m - £20m
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
* Experience delivering medium to large-scale construction projects
* Strong knowledge of standard construction contracts (JCT and NEC)
* Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation, and analytical skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
* Strong IT proficiency, including Excel and cost management software
