Atlantic Racquet Centre (ARC) are seeking to appoint a Head of Adult & Performance Tennis to lead on specific aspects of our successful coaching programme on an employed basis and to deliver 1:1 lessons on a self-employed basis.
ARC is a community racquet & fitness centre where everyone can exercise, socialise and learn together. Located in Bideford, less than 10 minutes from the beach, the centre currently boasts over 1300 members regularly accessing our 10 tennis courts, 3 badminton courts, 2 table tennis tables, 2 squash courts and large functional fitness Gym. The final phase of the project is set for completion in 2026 and will include a multi-sports hall and community Café.
The Head of Adult & Performance Tennis is answerable to the General Manager and will be responsible for the day to day management of all Adult Tennis sessions and our ARC Youth Racquet level 1 & 2 sessions aimed at performance level junior players.
The Head of Adult & Performance Tennis will work predominantly as an 'on-court' Tennis Coach delivering the majority of their hours across our adult & ARC Youth Racquet 1 & 2 sessions, as well as contributing to other parts of the programme including schools, disability and outreach sessions when required. They will also have a number of 'off-court' hours to be used for leading and overseeing the Adult Tennis and ARC Youth Racquet 1 & 2 programmes. The Head of Adult and Performance Tennis will work closely with our General Manager and Head of Junior and Community Tennis to maintain the already established high standards across the Tennis programme and crucially seek to grow the programme further in the coming years.
The Head of Adult and Performance Tennis will be required to report monthly to the General Manager, providing quantitative and qualitative data on the success and health of the programme.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and confident Lead Tennis Coach with a genuine passion for growing Tennis in general and specifically the areas of Adult and Performance. They will be proficient in sports development and have the required skills to both retain existing and gain new players.
The position will be a permanent employed role for per week with the possibility to top up income with individual private lessons on a self-employed basis.
There is a huge unmet demand for 1:1 lessons at the centre with a waiting list of players wanting lessons. An estimated £20,000 p/a additional income available through 1:1 lessons.
The essential requirements of the successful candidate:
· Level 3 LTA Accredited Tennis Coach or higher
· Experience of working in a busy tennis coaching programme and retaining players
· A strong communicator able to manage player, parent and coach relationships
· Computer literate and able to produce emails, marketing copy and web text
· Able to produce monthly reports
· Safeguarding Level 1
Additional skills:
· Experience of managing a small team of coaches
· Experience of managing/leading a busy tennis programme and retaining players
· A special interest in adult and/or performance tennis
· Level 4 or 5 Coach Qualification

Salary: Competitive rate of pay based on experience/qualifications. On court rate and off court rate.
Hours: hours per week with unsociable hours being required

Thursday 2 - 9pm
Saturday 9am – 12pm
