Job Purpose
To source, develop and buy strategically for the business
To deliver a commercial range that maximizes sales and profit opportunities
To agree and deliver the department/product range sourcing plan
To negotiate with suppliers to deliver the best product, cost price and lead time
Responsibilities
· Manages the critical path from concept through to buying, making any necessary changes to react to the market
· Identifies new sourcing opportunities and works with Designer to develop product
· Provides clear development specifications to supplier base
· Negotiates the best cost price to achieve departmental margin targets and reacts to market conditions to protect profit
· Understands product trends and interprets them where relevant into product area
· Develops the right product at the right time to meet customer requirements
· Works in conjunction with Visual Merchandising to design layout strategies
· Revises current sales with Merchandising team, reacting appropriately to maximize sales opportunities
· Predicts emerging trends to increase market share
· Monitors competitor actions
· Agrees packaging and presentation of product in line with critical path
· Works with QC to complete fit sessions
· Visits suppliers on buying trips
Skills and Experience
· Understands the brand, our USP and core values
· 2+ years buying/ sourcing experience in either footwear or accessories
· Comprehensive knowledge of current market place and competitors
· Knowledge of elements that make up the cost of a product
· Skilled negotiation techniques and influencing skills
· Understands supply chain issues, lead times, supplier capability and flexibility
· Ability to develop a comprehensive product range
· Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the business
· Ensures the direction of the team in line with company objectives
