Equans UK is looking for a new Senior Environmental Manager to join our Equans Digital Business based from our London office on a hybrid working arrangement.

Role overview
The Senior Environmental Manager is responsible for leading environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives across Equans Digital’s infrastructure services projects in the UK and Ireland. This includes construction environmental management requirements with a strong emphasis on ecology, while also overseeing other technical disciplines such as noise, vibration, air quality, hydrology, contamination, arboriculture, environmental auditing, and overall environmental management. The role ensures projects meet regulatory requirements, client expectations, and Equans’ ESG commitments while driving innovation in environmental practices.
Key activities
Provide strategic leadership on environmental compliance and sustainability across infrastructure projects.
Develop and implement environmental management plans and risk mitigation strategies for construction activities.
Ensure adherence to UK and Ireland environmental legislation and Equans governance frameworks.
Act as a subject matter expert for ecology and other technical disciplines, advising project teams and clients.
Drive continuous improvement and innovation in environmental monitoring, auditing, and reporting.
Lead environmental planning and compliance for all infrastructure projects, including construction environmental management.
Oversee ecological assessments and mitigation measures, ensuring biodiversity commitments are met.
Manage technical disciplines such as noise, vibration, air quality, hydrology, contamination, and arboriculture.
Conduct environmental audits and assessments to ensure regulatory adherence and best practice implementation.
Advise project managers on environmental risks and mitigation strategies across multiple technical areas.
Engage with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to maintain transparency and trust.
Monitor emerging legislation and industry trends to keep Equans ahead of compliance requirements.
Skills, qualifications & experience
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required
Should also be working towards chartered status with a recognised professional body (such as CIWEM, IEMA, or equivalent)
Experience in construction environmental management is essential
Proven ability to develop and implement environmental management plans
Requires technical knowledge across multiple disciplines, including ecology, noise, vibration, air quality, hydrology, land contamination, arboriculture, and environmental auditing
