Are you digitally-savvy, with an eye for good web design and plain but engaging writing?

People living their best lives in North East Lincolnshire, that’s what this council wants. To achieve this aim, our communications team is looking for an ideas-driven web adviser to help shape our digital content - delivering content to guide, support and inspire.
What will your day look like?
You will work with a team of motivated colleagues who write and generate social media, visual and video content to promote the work of every aspect of local authority work. This role is web-focused to ensure our digital content is visually attractive, with information that is easy to find and is presented in a way that is factually accurate and written for our varied audiences.
Throughout the day, you’ll:
1. Provide expert advice on usability, design, branding, and layout to colleagues across the council.
2. Lead on quality control, conducting regular reviews and usability testing to ensure our digital platforms meet high standards.
3. Use data and analytics to understand user behaviour and improve content based on evidence.
4. Train and support colleagues, including Web Governance staff, helping them understand best practices in digital communication.
5. Stay ahead of the curve, keeping up with the latest trends in web design, accessibility, and user experience - and bringing fresh ideas to the team.
6. Collaborate with external suppliers when needed, ensuring third-party contributions align with our standards and goals.
You’ll be part of a dynamic communications team that values innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Who are we looking for?
The successful person will:
7. Have excellent written communication skills and a keen eye for detail.
8. Understand how people use websites and can write with the user in mind.
9. Is confident using content management systems (CMS) and digital tools.
10. Has a good understanding of accessibility and usability principles.
11. Enjoys working collaboratively and can manage multiple priorities.
Desirable Experience
12. Previous experience in a web content, digital communications or media role.
13. Writing and design skills.
14. Familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics).
15. Knowledge of HTML or web accessibility standards (WCAG).
