Job Title:
MET Technician (Mechanical, Electrical & Trim)
Reports To:
Bodyshop Manager / Workshop Controller
Job Purpose:
To carry out the removal, refitting, and replacement of mechanical, electrical, and trim components on vehicles undergoing accident repair, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Diagnose and assess damage to mechanical, electrical, and trim components in accident-damaged vehicles.
* Remove and refit components such as suspension, steering, engine parts, wiring looms, air-conditioning, airbags, and interior/exterior trim.
* Carry out wheel alignment, suspension checks, and system resets where required.
* Ensure all repairs are completed in line with manufacturer methods and industry standards (e.g., Thatcham / OEM guidelines).
* Use specialist tools and diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults.
* Work closely with panel beaters, painters, and estimators to ensure smooth repair workflow.
* Maintain accurate job records, including parts used and time taken.
* Adhere to health and safety regulations and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
* Undertake training as required to stay up to date with modern vehicle technology (e.g., hybrid/EV systems, ADAS calibration).
Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience as an MET Technician, Vehicle Technician, or in a similar role within a bodyshop or automotive repair environment.
* Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical, electrical, and trim systems.
* Ability to work with diagnostic and measuring equipment.
* Understanding of OEM repair methods and Thatcham procedures.
* Full UK driving licence (clean preferred).
Qualifications (Desirable but not always essential):
* NVQ / IMI Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
* ATA MET Accreditation (preferred).
* EV/Hybrid training (desirable).
* ADAS calibration training (advantageous).
