Warwickshire County Council is looking to appoint a Flood Risk Management Apprentice to help reduce and mitigate flood risk to communities within Warwickshire.
As an apprentice within the Flood Risk Management team, you will support us in carrying out our role as Lead Local Flood Authority for Warwickshire. This covers a wide range of duties and in time, you will gain an understanding of these and will be able to;
1. Use flood risk mapping and data to assess the flood risk at a location,
2. Record and investigate the causes of reported flooding,
3. Help develop funding bids and plans for schemes,
4. Carry out technical reviews of proposals to alter watercourses,
5. Understand the flood risk impacts of new development and comment on basic planning applications,
6. Work with residents to make themselves more resilient to flooding,
7. Keep team datasets up to date and accurate.
The training for this apprenticeship is delivered by South and City College Birmingham, and the ability to travel to Birmingham is a key requirement.
Advanced Civil Engineering Technician Apprenticeship - SCCB
Our apprentices are valued members of the team and we are keen to see them grow into confident Engineers, encouraging them to gain professional qualifications, whilst always providing them with the necessary support.
Day to day, you will work with experienced members of our team on a variety of tasks to develop you experience and skills in the role, as well as regular interaction with our previous apprentices who have progressed into permanent roles within the team after completing their qualifications.
We will ensure you receive any necessary on the job training, and you will attend college on a one day a week basis to gain the understanding and knowledge required to undertake this work and gain a level 3 qualification as a Civil Engineering Technician.
