With a rich history spanning over 125 years, City St George's Students' Union' is the primary organisation representing every City St George's student. That makes the Students' Union the representative body for over 27,000 members.
With five Full-Time Student Officers, a team of permanent staff and the involvement of student volunteers, the Students' Union is at the heart of activity on campus tasked with improving and delivering the best Student Experience. The Students' Union delivers a range of services and support for its members, from independent academic advice to supporting our Programme Reps to enhance their course, to promoting the employability and development of students through our Communities Team. The Students' Union also runs a bar and two shops which sell a range of products, including ethically sourced University branding clothing, merchandise, and stationery.
Background
Following the merger that formed City St George's Students' Union, the Executive Coordinator role was established to provide dedicated support to the Chief Executive in leading a larger, more complex organisation. The role ensures effective coordination across multiple campuses, supports strategic and governance functions, and strengthens internal and external communications. By streamlining operations and enabling the Chief Executive to focus on high-level priorities, the Executive Coordinator plays a key role in embedding cohesion and driving forward the Union's new vision.
Responsibilities
The Executive Coordinator provides high-level support to the Chief Executive, managing diaries, meetings, correspondence, and strategic projects. They coordinate governance activities, including Board and Leadership Team meetings, ensuring effective communication and accurate documentation. The role also supports stakeholder engagement and internal communications, acting as a key liaison, organising staff events, and leading on initiatives like newsletters and surveys. Professionalism, confidentiality, and strong organisational skills are essential to ensure smooth operations and alignment across the Students' Union.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting senior leaders, managing complex diaries, and handling confidential information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication, organisational, and time management skills are essential. A qualification in administration or business is desirable, as is knowledge of the higher education or students' union sectors. The role demands discretion, professionalism, and the ability to work independently under pressure, while building effective relationships and demonstrating a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
