Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Biochemistry Service Manager within our Biochemistry Service based at University Hospital Crosshouse.


What you will do:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Healthcare professional with extensive experience who understands the changing needs and can represent the Clinical Biochemistry Service going forward. This is a senior management role within Diagnostic Services, and you will be expected to manage all aspects of the day to day laboratory operations, staffing, contracting and finances.

As Biochemistry Manager – Head of Service you will have responsibility for operational management of the Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory IT services across Ayrshire and Arran, combined with responsibility for developing the strategic direction and implementing change within the Service.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

You must be HCPC registered, qualified to MSc level or equivalent, with extensive experience of managing a laboratory or as a Section Manager/ Chief Biomedical Scientist with highly developed specialist knowledge and skills from working in Clinical Biochemistry. You will also need to have well developed communication, teamwork, effective staff management, leadership skills and a formal post graduate management qualification or equivalent experience. You will need to be highly organised and have experience of Quality Management Systems and change management. An ability to recognise and implement quality, efficiency and productivity opportunities to enable service change and development, together with experience of financial /budgetary management would also be desirable for this role.
