Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Lead Boiler Commissioning Engineer to manage and oversee the commissioning of boiler systems for a new build power generation project in the UK. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring boiler systems are safely and effectively commissioned to meet project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the commissioning of boiler systems, including steam generation units, combustion control systems, and associated equipment.
* Develop detailed commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules to align with project milestones.
* Coordinate and oversee functional testing, pressure testing, and system integration testing.
* Manage the calibration, testing, and verification of boiler control instruments, safety valves, and sensors.
* Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and UK health & safety regulations.
* Provide technical leadership to commissioning teams, ensuring effective collaboration with other disciplines.
* Conduct fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of boiler system issues.
* Prepare and maintain commissioning documentation, including test records, punch lists, and progress reports.
* Collaborate with design, construction, and client teams to ensure project success.
* Mentor and train junior engineers, ensuring knowledge transfer and development of commissioning best practices.
* Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and process teams to ensure seamless system integration in a power generation environment.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Boiler Engineering (or equivalent experience).
* Proven experience in boiler commissioning, preferably in new build power generation projects in the UK.
* Strong technical knowledge of boiler systems, combustion control, and steam generation.
* Familiarity with IEC, ISA, and relevant UK industry standards.
* Demonstrable leadership experience in commissioning projects.
* Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
* Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
* Willingness to travel and work on-site as required.
* Experience with power generation technologies such as gas turbines, steam turbines, or combined cycle power plants.
* Competency in commissioning tools and software.
* Certification in boiler safety or pressure system regulations is an advantage.
* Knowledge of mechanical protection systems and fault-finding techniques.
