Overview
The University of Sheffield is seeking a Water Compliance Plumber to ensure our water systems are safe and compliant with regulations across campus buildings. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing and conducting water hygiene/treatment works. The Water Compliance Team works with other departments to manage water services. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to high standards of water safety. The role requires working in a number of complex areas and systems, with RAMS undertaken for all activities and the ability to undertake dynamic risk assessments to safeguard all.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
* Conduct water hygiene maintenance and testing for facilities across the portfolio (including healthcare).
* Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including HTM where necessary.
* Investigate statutory compliance issues with water quality.
* Remove dead legs and dead ends from water systems.
* Install new unvented systems.
* Upgrade systems in line with WRAS and G3 regulations.
* Install new assets, including water treatment equipment and pipework.
* Upgrade and maintain tank systems.
* Disinfect hot and cold water systems.
* Replace and install booster pumps, isolation valves and pipework.
* Carry out periodic inspections and any necessary remedial works.
* Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.
Person Specification
Essential criteria
* NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing (minimum) - Assessed in application
* Good working understanding of water compliance legislation including WRAS and G3 regulations; ability to apply to University water systems
* Full UK driving license - Assessed in application
* Ability to work collaboratively with EFM and all University service users to maintain and monitor water quality - Assessed in interview
* IT literate - Assessed in application
* Ability to demonstrate a high standard of customer service to a wide range of customers including internal EFM and building users - Assessed in interview
Desirable criteria
* Experience in legionella compliance plumbing with proven experience in system upgrades, tank systems, and disinfection
* Working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation relevant to the job role and ability to apply this knowledge day-to-day

Salary: £26,942 - £30,805 with potential to progress to £33,482 through sustained outstanding contribution
