Overview
We are seeking a patient focused pharmacist aiming to build on established clinical skills and work closely with clinicians in providing a high-quality service to patients within ESHT. This specialist pharmacist post is based within the Acute Trust Division and is responsible for supporting the Lead Divisional Pharmacist(s) in providing clinical pharmacy and business level support within East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. This role supports the Trust Lead Antimicrobial/Divisional pharmacist on the use and management of antimicrobial therapy at ESHT. The post is based at Conquest Hospital, with potential cross-site working at Eastbourne District General Hospital and may involve evening duties.
Under the supervision of a designated Lead Pharmacist, you will work closely with consultants, other medical staff, nurses, pharmacy staff and other allied healthcare professionals to ensure that medicine use is safe, effective and evidence-based across ESHT. The post holder will provide clinical pharmacy services to Acute inpatient wards and occasional support to the dispensary. It also has an education and training commitment, contributing to staff development.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical pharmacy services to Acute inpatient wards and occasional support to the dispensary.
* Support the Lead Divisional Pharmacist(s) with clinical pharmacy and business level activities within East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.
* Support the Trust Lead Antimicrobial/Divisional pharmacist in the use and management of antimicrobial therapy at ESHT.
* Work in a portfolio style role within the acute medicine division and antimicrobial use.
* Collaborate with consultants, medical staff, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure medicine use is safe, effective and evidence-based.
* Contribute to education and training, including training and mentoring of pre-registration pharmacists, pharmacy undergraduates and rotational clinical pharmacists.
* Join the department weekend and on-call service on a rota basis following orientation and induction.
* Potential cross-site work and evening duties as required.
Qualifications and requirements
* Registered pharmacist with appropriate clinical experience in hospital settings.
* Experience or strong interest in antimicrobial stewardship and antimicrobial therapy management.
* Ability to work collaboratively with clinicians and multi-disciplinary teams.
* Willingness to participate in training, mentoring, and staff development activities.
* Flexible to weekend and on-call rotas and cross-site work as needed.
