and main responsibilities The roles and responsibilities of a Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) include (but not limited to):
1. Making sure patients are comfortable
2. Helping patients move around
3. Washing and dressing patients
4. Taking basic observations and updating patient records
5. Keeping departments tidy and ensuring equipment is clean
6. Serving meals and helping patients eat
7. Administering medication to patients
8. Collecting, storing, and labeling biological specimens
9. Keeping hospital supplies properly stocked and organized
10. Working closely with other healthcare professionals such as nurses, physicians, and therapists in order to provide patients with exceptional care
Support workers may also provide physical and emotional support, encourage and support the development of personal skills, and help with household tasks

Essential criteria
11. Good standard of numeracy and literacy
12. Completion of a competency-based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational level 3

13. Ability to adapt and learn in a healthcare environment

14. Previous experience of working within a care environment/NHS
