Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to lead our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role involves overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring food safety standards, and maintaining high-quality food production in a fast-paced hospitality environment. The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in managing staff, developing menus, and upholding the restaurant's reputation for excellence.
Duties
* Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants, fostering a positive and productive team environment
* Oversee all aspects of food preparation and presentation to ensure consistency and quality
* Develop innovative menus in line with current culinary trends and customer preferences
* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene across the kitchen
* Manage inventory, order supplies, and control food costs to optimise operational efficiency
* Train staff on proper food handling, preparation techniques, and safety procedures
* Coordinate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service delivery
* Monitor kitchen operations during service hours to uphold efficiency and quality standards
* Implement best practices in hospitality and customer service within the kitchen environment
Qualifications
* Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen setting
* Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in food production and food safety standards
* Demonstrable team management skills with the ability to lead and motivate staff effectively
* Proficiency in food preparation, cooking techniques, and restaurant operations
* Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant environments is highly desirable
* Strong leadership qualities combined with excellent organisational skills
* Knowledge of health regulations related to food safety and hygiene standards
* Experience serving customers directly or managing service teams is advantageous
