An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 7 psychological therapist specialising in DBT to work within the South and West DBT consult.
We would also welcome interest for a Trainee DBT Therapist. This unique role offers a funded salary: throughout your training journey, you'll be employed at Band 6, with progression to a substantive DBT Therapist B7 position upon completion of training and accreditation.
The South and West Consult is embedded in the complex emotional needs pathway and has strong links with two other consults within central locality. There will be further opportunities for continued professional development including the family connections programme. We will strongly encourage developing links with other areas that are also developing their DBT pathways.
Main duties of the job
If you are passionate about delivering evidence based psychological therapies and are experienced in working psychologically with adults with complex presentations associated with community mental health, then this role will be perfect for you.
We are seeking someone who is trained, nearing the end of their post graduate diploma training in DBT or has a desire to train in DBT (band 7 salary will be dependant on achieving the qualification and accreditation) to work alongside another DBT Therapist and develop the current service.
The applicant would be able to carry out psychological assessment, formulation and therapy alongside psychological consultation, and deliver teaching/training to the multi-disciplinary team. Duties would also include attendance and contribution to MDT meetings.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Postgraduate Diploma or Certificate in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Applicants close to completion, or willing to train, will be considered and salary will be dependent on achieving qualification.
* Must be either a core profession and registered to practice with a regulatory professional body OR a Clinical Associate in Psychology with 2 years post qualification experience and be registered the BPS OR Accredited Psychotherapist or Psychological Therapist with substantial NHS experience and registration with NMC, HCPC, BABCP.
Experience
* Post qualification experience of working with people with serious mental health problems or complex emotional needs.
* Experience of delivering DBT to a range of service users.
* Experience in a service where agreed targets are in place demonstrating clinical outcomes.
* Experience of working in a service for people with severe mental health problems.
Knowledge
* Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health.
* Demonstrates a high level knowledge of DBT, including the theoretical foundations and overarching principles.
Skills
* Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets.
* Ability to manage own caseload and time.
* Has received training (either formal or through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of practices.
Other
* Demonstrates an understanding of a range of mental health difficulties and how they may present in Secondary Care.
* Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
