Independent Social Worker (Form F Assessor) Who You Are You are a qualified social worker registered with Social Care Wales, ideally residing within a 40-mile radius of Cardiff, with at least 3 years of experience in fostering, including the completion of Form F assessments. You should be self-motivated and capable of working independently, yet open to supervision and collaborative efforts with Cardiff Children’s Services. Your role will require face-to-face visits and meticulous attention to detail in documentation. What the job involves The role primarily involves carrying out comprehensive Form F assessments for prospective foster carers. This includes, but is not limited to: Conducting initial assessment visits at applicants’ homes and completing assessment pro-formas. Facilitating no less than six home visits, ensuring each is comprehensive and lasts no less than 2 hours. Supporting applicants in understanding and completing necessary documentation and checks. Interviewing applicants and significant individuals in their lives to assess their suitability for fostering. Compiling detailed reports for panel presentations, including recommendations and potential matches for foster children. Engaging in regular discussions and meetings regarding assessment progress. Ensuring all assessments comply with BAAF guidelines and standards set by Cardiff Children’s Services. Skills Strong knowledge of child care legislation and child protection Familiarity with National Minimum Standards for Fostering Services Excellent communication and administrative skills Proficient in conducting interviews and writing detailed reports Adept at assessing and evaluating parenting capacity and potential foster environments Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care
