The Fuel & Lubricants team are responsible for ensuring the provision of fuel to both ground and aviation operations. This ranges from provisioning to policy and working closely with the infrastructure team to ensure safety standards are met. As a key part of the environmental protection commitment, the team are both proactive and reactive. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week with a working pattern ofMon-Thur 0800-1630, Fri 0800-1300. Job Description: The job holder is the Operating Authority for all fuel on site and will supervise the station Fuels, Lubricants and Associated Products section, ensuring the safe and efficient use of the facility, whilst adhering to all current rules, regulations and legislation. They maintain adequate fuel stock levels to meet operational and non-operational demands. This job requires working with external agencies to deliver operational output. The job holder is required to obtain a competency certificate and will be the Pollution Control Officer for the Station. Key responsibilities: Supervise Storekeepers FLAP and, as a minimum, will be responsible for assigning tasks to be done and/or passing on instructions from the Line Manager. Ensure all products are stored and issued in accordance with JSP policies such as; Storage and Handling of Fuels and Lubrications, Storage and Handling of Gases, and Defence Logistics Supply Chain manuals. The post holder must remain fully conversant with the implementation and accounting procedures in accordance with current regulations. Authorise and monitor the ordering of aviation and ground fuels, furnace fuels oils, heating oil and other associated products as required and ensure the quality assurance checks are carried out before and during receipting of aviation fuel. Responsible for collection and disposal of all waste fuel products and hazardous waste on station. Have a sound working knowledge of the Station Spillage Plan and implement immediate actions as required. Ensure fuel infrastructure is ready for periodic inspections. Responsible for appropriate maintenance of stores and equipment, including locations and storage (including stock rotation). Remain compliant with all Unit, Station and Garrison Standing Orders and safety regulations. Act as the building custodian for relevant buildings/installations. You will maintain adequate fuel stock levels to meet operational and non-operational demands. You will work with external agencies to deliver operational output. Required to obtain a competency certificate and will be the Pollution Control Officer for the Station. Training and qualifications required once you have started the role: Mandatory training as per current Ministry of Defence policy. Fuel Managers course within 6 months of taking up post and refreshed every 5 years (will require GB attendance). Once obtained, the post attracts Authorised Persons allowance. Practical Pollution Prevention training course within 3 months of taking up post. Fire Extinguisher & Major Spills process - certificate of competency within 1 month of taking up post. All Arms Storekeeper course within 6 months of taking up post. Periodic OH medical in accordance with Dept Policy 'Handling Petroleum Worker'.
