Lead Mechanical Engineer - Water

Salary up to £75,000 per annum + Company Car/Allowance
Work for one of the UK's leading contractors on multiple million-pound water projects across the North West Region. This is a long-term, stable opportunity within a business known for high-quality delivery, a strong safety culture, and promotion from within.
The Role
* Responsible for mechanical package delivery and technical governance, managing the mechanical package delivery strategy for the framework.
* Manage site surveys of existing mechanical equipment.
* Handover to project MEICA delivery engineering team.
* Implement standard procurement requirements related to manufacture, off-site testing, delivery, and installation within mechanical packages.
* Ensure delivery teams implement deployed frameworks.
* Collaborate with design, estimating, civils, and commercial functions to support effective delivery and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Input to design solutions at survey and concept stages.
* Produce mechanical enquiry packages based on design documentation.
* Organise decommissioning and relocation of existing mechanical equipment.
* Define standard products and technical solutions for deployment across the programme.
* Guide design teams towards standardisation of solutions across the programme.
* Manage key suppliers and subcontractors to ensure production and delivery timescales.
* Liaise with the client's mechanical lead.
* Review and sign off mechanical elements of condition survey reports.
* Conduct on and off-site inspection and testing, including documentation, procedures, and critical function witness testing (FAT & SAT, string tests, etc.).
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience in water civil engineering projects. Strong background in mechanical engineering.
