Our Transport teams ensure that the National Grid fleet operation is on the road 24/7, 365 days a year. That means taking responsibility for safety, ensuring legal compliance and delivering it all cost-effectively. As well as asset management, the team also oversees driver support and training and strives to ensure National Grid Electricity Distribution employees enjoy a service that enables them to work effectively and efficiently. Main Responsibilities You’ll take ownership of your workload and collaborate with colleagues and customers to ensure our fleet is always ready for action. Your day-to-day will include: Routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles, including HGVs. Diagnosing faults and road testing. Maintaining plant trailers and ancillary equipment. Coordinating with suppliers for repairs and servicing. Preparing vehicles for annual testing. Ordering parts and managing stock. The Ideal Candidate NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent). Strong mechanical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. A team player with great communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Full UK driving licence is essential. LGV (Class C) licence is a bonus — but don’t worry, we can provide training! Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment. National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers. This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service, (DBS) check, depending on the role different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.
