JOB Logistics Team Leader - Nights
Location: West Bromwich
Salary: £21.35 per hour
About the Role:
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Logistics Team Leader to oversee pick, pack, and dispatch operations for key product lines on a day shift basis. Based in West Bromwich, this is a hands-on leadership role where you'll drive performance, support inventory accuracy, and ensure timely delivery to customers. You'll also play a key part in improving processes, supporting team development, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and supervise the logistics team to ensure consistent, reliable support to production.
* Set high operational standards and take full accountability for team performance and area outcomes.
* Drive implementation of best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ensure achievement of departmental and site-level KPIs.
* Manage attendance, conduct return-to-work interviews, and initiate disciplinary actions as needed.
* Represent the logistics function in meetings and contribute to operational development.
* Oversee pick, pack, and dispatch processes for accurate and timely order fulfillment.
* Distribute workload effectively according to operational requirements.
* Identify and address training needs within the team; maintain training records.
* Escalate issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
* Promote 5S workplace organization and lean tools.
* Support day-to-day logistics leadership in the absence of senior staff.
* Lead team stand-downs and briefings to ensure strong communication.
* Report to the Logistics Supervisor on performance and suggest improvements.
* Implement solutions to minimize customer complaints and enhance satisfaction.
* Foster a positive work environment focused on employee wellbeing.
* Ensure full compliance with health and safety procedures, including hazard spotting and risk assessment.
* Requirements:
* Valid Reach FLT license (essential)
* Knowledge of safe working practices and health & safety regulations
* Proven experience leading teams in a warehouse/logistics environment
* Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
* Ability to manage a varied workload and work effectively under pressure
* Proactive, flexible, and solutions-oriented approach
* Experience with lean principles and continuous improvement methods
