Job overview
The post holder will provide on‑going professional and clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary department team, whilst working collaboratively with clinicians as part of the wider multi‑professional team to ensure that high standards of care are maintained at all times for the optimum patient experience and outcome.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring all relevant forms of care and procedures are performed, effectively, safely, appropriately, and efficiently utilizing evidence‑based guidelines throughout the patient’s journey.
Included in this role will be management and administration functions to ensure the smooth day‑to‑day running of the service, delivery of planned care and risk assessments, medication management and the development of the service.
Main duties of the job
Communicate highly sensitive/highly complex, condition related information to patients and carers.
Liaise effectively with all members of the multi‑disciplinary team within the acute hospital and primary care setting to ensure seamless patient care, through the independent development of protocols and care pathways.
Network with other centres providing Orthopaedic trauma services.
Maintain a clinical nursing service within the hospital setting, providing education, information and support to Orthopaedic trauma patients, their families and carers and to professionals working in related fields.
Communicates service related information to senior managers, own team, staff and external agencies.
Provide a lead role in ensuring a responsive service for all Trauma patients admitted to the Emergency department, assisting with timely transfer of appropriate patients to the Trauma Assessment Unit or the Trauma Units.
Co‑ordinate the care and treatment of patients requiring urgent or emergency trauma orthopaedic services within the Trauma Assessment Unit or Trauma Unit in liaison with other key staff (Consultants, Theatre staff, Matron, Service Manager, Clinical Site Coordinators).
Appropriately prepare patients for urgent, orthopaedic trauma surgery.

Qualifications
* Diploma in nursing or equivalent CPD evidence
* Able to evidence continuing professional development within the field of Trauma
* Non Medical prescriber

* Substantive experience in Trauma
* Involvement in change management

* Clinical audit skills
* Strong leadership skills
* High level of presentation skills
