Job Title: HSE and Facilities Manager

Job Location: UK; Coalville

Job Type: Full time – permanent

Reporting to: Operations Director

Site: Coalville

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will support all the business on assigned HSE and facilities tasks with the delivery of Op’s Plans which ensures the site is fully compliant, managers are proactive and create a culture conducive to the achievement of Business aims and thus delivers bottom line value. Working closely with the operational management team to develop line management capability and the implementation of good people management practices through advising on complex operational matters, coaching and mentoring. He/She will be tasked with local authority planning permissions, overseeing and planning of capital installations (both plant and machinery) and associated project management.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

1. Ensure compliance to local Health, Safety and Environmental legislation as well as company policies and requirements through internal and external site inspections.
2. HSE Performance KPI reporting, environmental monitoring and measurement. Report weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually on progress.
3. Leading HSE Steering meetings, Safety Committees.
4. Managing reporting and investigation procedures for accidents/incidents and EL/PL Clams.
5. Actively lead implementation of legal, insurance and corporate standards.
6. Review of HSE Risk Assessment, Policies and Procedures regularly.
7. To provide support on HSE and facilities in addition to continuous improvement Projects.
8. Collaborate with site teams; leadership, production, engineering, logistics, purchasing to ensure completion of HSE improvement plans, deployment of HSE/SIF roadmaps and to ensure safe working environment.
9. Managing HSE and facilities functions and coordination and consulting with leadership teams ensuring employee involvement.

11. Provide HSE and facilities advice specific to the business, acting as a technical expert and internal consultant.
12. Develop, initiate and coordinate short, medium and long-term HSE and facilities activities.
13. Work together with the site leadership to manage the HSE and facilities budget for your area.
14. Management of internal HSE audits and external compliance audit programme, supporting 5S audits.
15. Manage and co-ordinate environmental control.
16. Actively lead implementation of legal, insurance risk and corporate standards.
17. Manage and co-ordinate 3rd party contracts.
18. Increasing awareness of HSE through delivery of training and communication.
19. To oversee and support maintenance of all company buildings, equipment and infrastructure.
20. Project management of HSE, Facilities and Maintenance requirements.

The successful candidate must have:

21. A NEBOSH General Certificate in Health & Safety or similar.
22. Knowledge of current Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation.
23. A good working knowledge of Risk assessments, COSHH, RIDDOR, and Display Screen Equipment.
24. 3+ years’ experience gained in a similar role within similar industry.
25. Proven track record of project management, People and contracts
26. Good computer literacy and competencies in Office software systems
27. Ability to influence at all levels
28. Preferably educated to Degree standard in an Engineering discipline with industrial experience in a similar role. Minimum HND in a relevant discipline with related experience.

The below would also be desirable though not essential:

29. Ability to demonstrate significant experience of working within manufacturing environment
30. NEBOSH Fire Safety / Environment / Well being
31. Train the Trainer Certificate
32. Knowledge of PPC Regulations, UK Packaging regulations,
33. Experience of implementation, development or auditing of management systems; OHSAS 18001/ISO45001, ISO50001, ISO14001, ISO9001
34. Experience of coaching and mentoring
35. Membership of IOSH
