14‑month Fixed Term Apprenticeship – Administrative Assistant, Diabetes & Endocrinology Department.
Are you our next apprentice administration hero? You will support the busy admin team, type, book patient appointments, manage telephone enquiries, file records and carry out general office duties to keep our clinics running smoothly.
Working across our Diabetes, Endocrinology and Clinical Investigation units you will contribute to the highest standards of patient care while gaining experience in a variety of activities.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality secretarial support to the department.
* Split time across multiple areas within the department, collaborating with various staff groups.
* Handle patient information daily with accuracy and confidentiality.
* Prioritise workload and use departmental database systems efficiently.
* Communicate confidently with service users over the telephone and face‑to‑face.
* Maintain effective working relationships, supporting the Trust's PRIDE values.
* Complete the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard within 14 months.
Qualifications and Skills Required
* Good general standard of education.
* 4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above (or equivalent) – including Maths and English.
* Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Good IT skills – Microsoft Office and PAS.
* Ability to work autonomously and in a team.

Person Specification
* Essential: 4 GCSEs at C/3 or above (ideally Maths and English), successful completion of the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship within the 14‑month contract.
* Desirable: Previous NHS or customer service experience.
* Skills: Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills (Microsoft Office & PAS). Self‑motivation and independence.
* Attitude: Demonstrates understanding and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion; role model for NNUH’s PRIDE values.
