Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Automotive Painter to support unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.
Paint or remove paint from contract units in accordance with customer specifications. Understands and applies various corrosion control methods and technologies. Position reports to Supervisor.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Coats surfaces of contract units with primer, paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices.
2. Removes old paint using liquid paint remover and scraper or plastic/sand media blasting techniques.
3. Smoothes surface with sandpaper and steel wool. Roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to insure that paint adheres to surface and provides corrosion control methods to customer specifications.
4. Masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted. Paints insignia, letters or numerals on vehicle surface, using stencils.

11. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock.
12. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
13. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
14. Three (3) years recent experience in the maintenance, water blasting, sand blasting, bead blasting, overhaul and painting/depainting of contract unit equipment is required.
15. Must have normal color vision.
16. PFT and Respirator Fit test may be required.
Additional Requirements:
17. Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
18. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check.
19. Must be able to read, speak and write English.
20. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC), if required.
21. Must be willing to work on shifts, weekends.
22. Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
23. Excellent organizational, time management and customer service skills.
24. Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
25. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
26. Valid country driver's license and passport.
27. Country visa (as required in line with the Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
