Team
About the role
Joining Bury Council as a Premises Assistant within the Bury Council Facilities Management Team offers a great opportunity to be part of a team providing essential services to administrative buildings in the centre of Bury, ensuring they are well-maintained for visitors and employees.
The team opens the buildings at 7am, requiring a start at 6am during the first week of the rota. The working hours vary: in week one, finishing at 2pm; in week two, starting at 2pm and ending at 10pm for the Town Hall; or starting at 12pm and ending at 8pm for the Town Centre building.
The role includes locking and unlocking buildings, setting and testing alarm systems, cleaning, delivering post and parcels, and providing excellent customer care to visitors and staff.
Experience in these tasks is preferred but not essential; a positive attitude and willingness to learn are equally valued.
Additional duties involve accepting and distributing deliveries within council buildings, which may include some light lifting, with training provided. Day-to-day maintenance tasks are also part of the role; trade skills and experience with power tools are advantageous but not mandatory.
The successful candidate will report to the Admin Buildings Manager. For more information, please contact Karim Mira at 07581021872.
Normal hours are 37 per week, based on a standard business week. Flexibility for rota work, overtime, and coverage during leave or sickness is required.
Applicants should include full employment history and explanations for any gaps. References for the past ten years will be requested; character references are not accepted.
