Purpose of the Role
This is a UK Mobile role. You can be based anywhere in the country but the role will involve travel and lodging away from home.
Your role will be to prepare the rail grinding machine, assess the work requirement and to ensure the plan is achieved to meet the required specification whilst maintaining all health, safety and environmental safeguards, working to the VMI and operational manual.
Kay Responsibilities
1. Operating or maintaining the machine safely and effectively, as instructed by the Grinding or Maintenance Supervisor.
2. 2nd man / fire watch duties on grinding operation
3. Reporting any machine defects to Grinding or Maintenance Supervisor, where appropriate.
4. Collating the data output from the machine where applicable.
5. To work safely and effectively to Colas Rail Services Operations procedures.
6. Assist as required
7. Assist in maintaining quality systems, machine safety packs and stabling database by continually monitoring, reviewing and making recommendations for updating as required
8. Undertake any other duties if assessed as competent to do so
9. Carry out COSS duties as and when required
10. Daily maintenance duties to include Chipping and Blowing
11. Able to complete daily Work Return Forms
SHEQ Responsibilities
12. Work to applicable Safety Plans and Method Statements.
13. Comply with Section 7 of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974

14. Recognised formal apprenticeship in Mechanical / Electrical engineering
15. To have achieved the core competencies of Foundation Course,, Machine Setup and Pack away for Operation Grinding Railgrinding maintainer for Operations /Maintenance competence matrix.
