Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

SEMH Specialist School – Preston – Up to £600 per week – Full-Time

Are you a Psychology (or similar) graduate looking to gain meaningful experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

Do you have experience in care, support work, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, residential care, or similar environments and want to apply those skills within education?

Maybe you’re interested in pursuing Clinical/Educational Psychology or Speech & Language Therapy in future, and would like to gain experience to support this journey?

A specialist SEMH school in Preston is seeking a resilient and enthusiastic Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated support team. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates hoping to pursue long-term careers in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology SEN Education.

The Role – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of additional needs including SEMH, ADHD, Autism, attachment difficulties, and behavioural challenges.

Working on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups, you will help pupils engage with learning, regulate emotions, and develop positive behaviours. Building strong, trusting relationships will be at the heart of your role, helping pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to succeed.

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will become a key member of a dynamic and nurturing support team, working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and senior leaders.
