Staff Nurse
Department: Ward 5 and Ward 4 (PAU/PDSU)
Band 5 £28,407 - £34,581 per annum pro rata if part-time
Hours: hours per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
We require enthusiastic, caring and motivated individuals to join our team as staff nurses to provide dynamic, high quality family centred nursing care to Children, Young People and Babies. We offer the option of either simply choosing your preferred place of work or to be part of our rotational programme across the department - both options will allow you to advance as a highly skilled staff nurse ready for promotion.

Ward 4: Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU) / Paediatric Day SurgeryWard 4 is divided into a 6 bedded day surgery unit, and a 24 hour 10 bedded PAU that flexes capacity to meet the ever changing needs of our children. We offer access to expert, evidence based and family centred assessment, treatment, and care.
Ward 5 is an inpatient ward covering 0-16 years, offering Medical, Surgical, Oncology and Orthopaedic experience. The Ward has dedicated High Dependency beds and offers every opportunity for the successful applicant to succeed and develop. The successful candidate will be expected to rotate across the two areas.

Clinical
9. To provide the highest standard of evidenced based nursing care for both the children and their families in line with local and nationally agreed standards and guidelines.
10. To holistically assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care of patients within their sphere of responsibility.
Professional
11. To at all times demonstrate a professional approach to work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, (2010).
12. Is required to have a working knowledge of the Childrens National Service Framework (2004) and understand the nursing responsibilities in relation to this publication.

Education

17. RSCN/RN Child
18. Evidence of recent appropriate clinical practice
19. EPLS/PILS or equivalent

20. Successfully completed a programme of study relevant to the delivery of day care services or has relevant transferable skills with a plan to undertake specialist qualification
