Job Description – Carer

Job title: Carer

Reports to: Registered Manager


Main Function of the Job

To maintain current care skills, undertake necessary training, and provide care in accordance with best practices, policies, standards, legislative requirements, and within financial plans.


Job Roles and Main Duties


Within the Organisation:

1. Develop effective working relationships with colleagues.
2. Support an open, positive, and inclusive working culture.
3. Participate in the development of organisational policies.
4. Contribute to evaluating organisational goals, business, and quality objectives.
5. Foster effective employer-employee relationships.
6. Maintain management information systems.
7. Assist in formulating and implementing care policies and procedures.
8. Help ensure compliance with legislation related to registration.
9. Work within the organisation’s budget and financial plans.
10. Operate in a cost-effective manner.
11. Participate in quality assurance programmes.
12. Assist in evaluating care standards and service provision.
13. Resolve day-to-day operational issues effectively.


Care Services:

1. Contribute to developing care philosophy, goals, and objectives.
2. Assess and improve care effectiveness.
3. Implement actions to meet care standards.
4. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maximise therapeutic care opportunities.
5. Protect service user rights.
6. Promote self-care and rehabilitation.
7. Record activities in care plans.
8. Evaluate care competence standards.


Professional Long-Term Care Leadership:

1. Encourage innovative care delivery methods.
2. Promote health within care strategies.
3. Seek personal and professional growth opportunities.
4. Enhance the agency’s image for residency and employment.


Human Resources:

1. Support onboarding, evaluation, and induction of new staff.
2. Implement and uphold policies and procedures.
3. Resolve team conflicts effectively.
4. Maintain a positive work environment.
5. Foster a culture of performance and excellence.
