Senior Accountant

Location: Devon
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We are acting on behalf of a well-established firm of chartered accountants in Devon who are seeking a Senior Accountant to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant looking to take responsibility for a varied portfolio of clients, contribute to a supportive team, and progress their career within a reputable practice.


Key Responsibilities

* Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, providing accounting, tax, and advisory services.

* Prepare and review financial statements, management accounts, and statutory accounts in compliance with UK accounting standards.

* Handle complex accounting and tax matters, including corporate and personal tax, VAT, and payroll.

* Provide proactive advice to clients on financial performance, cash flow, and business strategy.

* Lead and mentor junior members of the team, providing guidance, support, and training.

* Assist in audits, ensuring thorough preparation, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards.

* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in accounting, tax legislation, and best practice.

* Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and client service within the firm.

* Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.


Skills & Experience Required

* ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with proven experience in a senior accounting role.

* Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, and financial reporting.

* Experience preparing statutory accounts and managing audits.

* Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.

* Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to clients.

* Experience supervising, mentoring, and managing junior team members.

* Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office applications.

* Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines effectively.
