Salary: £35k OTE plus overtime
The Role
Working as part of a team of technicians, you will respond to customer breakdowns where a hydraulic hose has failed. This can be on anything from a forklift to an excavator as we cover a wide range of plant and equipment ensuring no two days are the same. From your mobile workshop, you will then assemble and refit the new hose assembly for customers, ensuring you meet all health and safety guidelines. We are looking for someone who is self‑motivated and can work well as part of a team. We will train and develop individuals with a technical background who possess the aptitude to succeed in this role.
Key functions & responsibilities
* Provide a professional on‑site hose replacement service to Pirtek customers.
* Be part of a 24‑hour on‑call rota with other franchise technicians.
* Visit customer sites and carry out works as allocated.
* Inspect and test various types of plant, equipment and machinery.
* Report any faults, breakages or items requiring repairs.
* Repair equipment on time and in line with training.
* Represent the company in a professional and friendly manner at all times.
* Manage vehicle day‑to‑day, including maintaining stock levels and performing routine checks.
Skills & competencies
* Basic mechanical knowledge.
* Good manual dexterity and physical ability.
* Good communication skills, both orally and in writing.
* Ability to present yourself in a professional and courteous manner to customers and staff.
* Ability to work unsupervised and meet time constraints.
* Ability to effectively communicate technical information to engineering personnel.
Work experience
* Ideal: plant or motor trade background or experience with hydraulics.
* Work experience in a technical/engineering environment advantageous but not essential.
