Young People and Families Practitioner
Location: Youth Offending Service, 1 Regency Road, Brighton, BN1 2RU
Employment details:
* Salary: £34,434 - £39,152
* Hours: 37 hours per week (Fixed Hours)
* Contract type: Fixed term until 31 March 2027, likely to be extended
Job description:
The role is to build strength‑based relationships with young people and their families, supporting them in reducing substance use and promoting wellbeing.
Key responsibilities:
* Work collaboratively with young people, parents and carers to deliver evidence‑based interventions and substance‑use support.
* Co‑design harm‑reduction campaigns, interventions and service developments with the population supported by the service.
* Provide risk assessment and safeguarding support for adolescents and families.
* Engage with education settings and community agencies to extend the reach of the service.
* Promote anti‑racist practice and challenge racial inequality within the service.
* Support a culture of learning and participation within the team and wider service.
Qualifications and experience:
* Experience working with adolescents and/or families.
* Knowledge of risk assessment, safeguarding procedures and child development.
* Relevant qualifications or membership in professional bodies are an advantage.
