Do you thrive at the intersection of scientific rigour and commercial delivery? Our client is looking for a Senior Development Scientist who has navigated the full journey from early-stage concept to commercially viable product - and wants to do it again, at pace, in a high-growth environment.
You'll be a key member of the development team, responsible for shaping technical direction and driving delivery across the full product development lifecycle. You understand what it takes to move a promising prototype out of the lab and into the hands of customers - and you know how to bring a team with you on that journey.
What you'll do:
Lead experimental programmes from early feasibility through to robust, scalable workflows integrated into our commercial platform
Define technical roadmaps, milestones, and success criteria that balance scientific ambition with commercial realities
Prioritise competing workstreams in line with company objectives, adapting plans as the product and market evolve
Provide day-to-day technical leadership and line management, developing the scientists around you
Proactively identify risks, troubleshoot challenges, and drive continuous improvements in performance, robustness, and scalability
Collaborate across functions - engineering, software, commercial - to ensure technical outputs land as viable, integrated solutions
Champion high standards of documentation and quality processes as products mature toward production
What we're looking for:
A clear track record of taking biological products or workflows from early development through to robust, commercially deployed solutions
Experience defining and managing technical plans with accountability for delivery against timelines
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage scientists in a fast-moving commercial or industrial setting
Strong instincts for balancing scientific quality with pragmatic delivery under real-world constraints
Excellent communication skills, with the credibility to engage senior leadership and the clarity to support junior team members
Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001 or ISO 13485) and structured development processes is advantageous
