Description
We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Programmer / Machinist to join our Metallic machine shop team working on a weekend shift. The role involves programming, setting, and operating CNC machines to produce high-precision components. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will collaborate closely with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure the highest quality standards and rapid turnaround times are met.
Key Responsibilities
* Create and optimise CNC programs using CAD/CAM software.
* Set and operate multi‑axis CNC milling to manufacture high‑tolerance components.
* Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds to maximise efficiency and component quality.
* Work to extremely tight tolerances, ensuring components meet stringent F1 specifications.
* Conduct in‑process inspections using precision measuring equipment (micrometres, gauges, etc.).
* High attention to detail to minimise scrap and rework.
* Work closely with design engineers and production teams to enhance manufacturability (DFM).
* Identify process improvements to reduce cycle times and increase productivity.
* Support the introduction of new materials and machining techniques to maintain a competitive edge.
* Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance.
* Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
* Maintain a clean and organised workspace in line with 5S principles.
Please note this role is working on a weekend shift.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Proven experience as a CNC Programmer / Machinist in a high‑performance engineering environment (preferably F1, motorsport, aerospace, or precision engineering).
* Expertise in CAD/CAM programming. Preference for Hypermill but other CAM systems considered.
* Strong knowledge of 5‑axis CNC milling.
* Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T.
* Experience with Heidenhain, or Fanuc controls is advantageous.
* Skilled in selecting the correct tooling, cutting strategies, and machining parameters for exotic materials.
* Experience working in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment with strict deadlines.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, ensuring seamless workflow and communication.
