We’re looking for a Managing Director to lead and grow our talent, people and culture; manage our overall performance; ensure the quality and integrity of our work; and build real momentum through new business opportunities. The ideal candidate possesses ambition, perspective, and deep experience of either running an agency or other forms of a large P&L, with a deep-rooted sense of what it takes to nurture and support a high performing team. Your background will be in the areas of customer experience, digital platforms and communications, product and service design, creative technology and immersive content, and/or social media. You’re experienced using data-driven methodologies and technology solutions to deliver creative excellence and have used this to power organic growth opportunities and expand client relationships.
While Critical Mass is a large, global organisation, you possess an entrepreneurial mindset and an agile way of doing business. You will be focused on 3 core areas of the business– operations including resources, talent and P L; client relationships; and new business – and need to be able to move seamlessly amongst them. Metrics of success will be aligned to revenue growth, client satisfaction, team retention, and work quality.
You will be part of the Critical Mass Worldwide Leadership Team and will play a role in shaping and executing the company vision. You will have a voice amongst senior leadership and have an opportunity to contribute to shaping the company’s agenda on talent, work and workplace.

Manage Operations by…
Oversee London P L; maintain a cadence with the project delivery teams to ensure accounts are properly staffed and resourcing maps to revenue
Lead a highly skilled, agile, collaborative, and diverse team of people and ensure the best talent is attracted and retained within the UK
Build a healthy, performance-driven culture and maintain Critical Mass as “a great place to work”
Work with talent/HR on learning and development programs; ensure culture of inclusivity, creativity, and transparency
Empower and support cross discipline leadership team
Work with global counterparts and global leadership to emulate company culture and values on a local level
Manage Client Relationships by…
Establish and nurture visible and value-added role to London clients – strategically engage c-level executives to understand customer and business needs
Be a partner in driving best in class and transformative digital solutions in their digital platform and marketing initiatives
Work with client leads to establish and nurture organic growth opportunities leveraging the portfolio and work and cases from within the agency
Ensure work is delivered at a high standard
Drive New Business by…
Establish and implement a business plan to drive growth in line with the global company vision and working in tandem with the global executive team
Maintain a new business pipeline and successfully convert pitch opportunities
Activate/maintain business and partner networks and support company marketing initiatives
Be the main point of contact for Critical Mass UK with Omnicom sister agencies – proactive outreach to partner agencies for work sharing and synergistic business opportunities
You have:
Ownership of a substantial P L (£8M ) as a global client lead or agency Managing Director
Significant track record in driving organic and/or new business revenue
Understanding of digital customer experience including content, channels, technologies, platforms, competitors and trends
Experience with global/complex client ecosystems
Can display critical thinking – challenge client/industry conventions – and work toward alternative solutions that can yield better outcomes
Strong ambition to lead a high-performing team – experiencing identifying and building a talent pipeline and upskilling existing talent
Exceptional communication skills – proactive outreach and comprehensive follow through
Ability to travel
